How It All Began (14/04/2023)

When my boys were small I decided to start running, training for a local event. Going from a non-runner to a pretty regular runner, I suffered multiple injuries including a tibial stress fracture, achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and ankle sprains. Fortunately I found a fabulous therapist. Without her I would not have made it through my run, let alone the London Marathon in 2013 raising over £3000 for the local MS Therapy Centre (that's how good she was!!!).

The process inspired me so much that I decided to train as a Massage Therapist. I was fascinated by the healing power of hands. The course was hard. Much harder than I imagined it would be. There was so much study in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology before I even began using my hands a year later. Exams were tough and time was tight with two then toddlers at home. However with the help of my super hubby Craig, great tutors, and after 439 hours of monitored learning (not including home study), I was thrilled to qualify in 2012.

I immediately started up a practice from my home in Hertfordshire. I slowly established a great client base and a good work/life balance. I continued with my professional development, obtaining those further skills listed above.

We relocated to Edinburgh in 2015 and it wasn't long before I was using these hands again. I worked from the Life Academy in Morningside which was a great success.  Unfortunately Covid hit and businesses such as mine suffered tremendously. It was no longer sustainable.

I was very lucky to secure a great job in education which I love, but my hands have always been a little restless. When an opportunity recently arose to work from a therapy room within The Galleon Club, alongside my other job, I just had to snap it up.

Over the years I have met some wonderful people, had great results, felt a real sense of achievement and built trust with my clients. I am looking toward to continuing with this, and with my professional development... next on the list is remedial and sports massage!

Hopefully you'll decide to come along and see what it's all about. Whether you benefit mentally or physiologically (or in both ways) from massage, once you are with the right therapist, it's near impossible to ignore the benefits. I have treated clients who use this as their regular self-care and know exactly what they want,  but I've also treated clients successfully who had never had a treatment for various reasons. Going to a new therapist can be a big deal. Some of us are shy, body conscious, not able to stay still in certain positions. All I can say is please don't worry. We will have a good chat and I'll encourage you to be open about any concerns you may have, doing my best to put you at ease. The treatment will be tailored to your needs and preferences, so hopefully you'll soon be able to relax and reap maximum benefit.
